Sororia was formed in 1910 when sixteen married women students began the Married Women's Club to encourage one another in their pursuit of higher education. The name was changed to "University Dames" in 1912 to include unmarried women students over the age of 25. Subsequent name changes include: "Marilla Hutchins Club" (1920), "Sororia" (1924), "Kinesis" (ca. 1979), then "Sororia" again.
